Registration is now being accepted for the Get Fit Glendale 5K Walk/Run to benefit the HWB Community Center. The 5K Walk/Run and Kids Race will be held on July 31, 2010 at 9 am on the Village Square. The race course winds throughout Historic Glendale. Registration is $20 for pre-registration or $25 on race day. Sponsors of this fundraiser are Bullock Roofing, The Allen Company, and Kerry Ford. Collection for Yard Sale
The Glendale Community Library is accepting donations for a community Yard Sale which is to be held on Saturday, August 7th. All proceeds from the sale of items given to the Library will benefit the Library operations.
The Library is looking for donations of everyday items, such as toys, sporting goods, furniture, kitchen equipment, tools, music and movie CDs, etc. The Glendale Community Library is part of a 501C3 non profit organization, so all contributions are tax deductible.
The Yard Sale scheduled for August 7th will take place from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the Scout House and on the lawn in front of the HWB Community Center.
Anyone interested in donating items for the Library's benefit should drop off their items on Friday, August 6th. Drop off times are from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and again between 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
We also need people to work at the Yard Sale. If you enjoy coming up to the Library and feel it has enriched your family’s life or the Village in general, we’re really hoping you can give us an hour.
Please pick from the following “opportunities”:
* On Friday, August 6th
-- from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM we need people to be at the Scout House to accept items being dropped off for the Yard Sale.
* On Saturday, August 7th
-- from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM we need people to help set up our tables
-- from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM we need people to work hour shifts at the sale tables
-- from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM we need people to help clean up the sale area

Shakespeare in the Park
Mark your calendars! Continuing a Glendale tradition of Shakespeare in the Park, the public is invited to come watch one of Shakespeare's best known comedies. On Saturday, July 24th, Glendale will have its fourth outdoor presentation performed by the renowned Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. This year's offering is “A Midsummer Night's Dream”. The play will begin at 7:00 PM on the lawn beside the HWB building. The Harry Whiting Brown Community Center and the Village of Glendale, with the help of Cynthia Beischel and Sarah Oliver, have once again orchestrated the arrangements. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs, and a picnic if you wish, and come enjoy what is becoming one of Glendale's favorite annual summer events. Consider placing a carry out order from one of Glendale’s tasty restaurants: The Cock and Bull, The Iron Horse, The Grand Finale, or The Friendly Stop.
